We can't directly help with money for individuals or businesses that are operating for private profit, although we are very much in favour of private enterprise. We feel the more individuals or organisations that want to set up businesses in Northmavine the better. We can encourage this process, for example, by such things as helping to supply workshop premises or industrial units and by helping with, and supporting funding applications.
There are a number of possible funding possibilities for business ideas, depending on the particular project someone might have in mind and the economic sector the idea covers. These include the SIC Economic Development Unit, LEADER and the Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP).
We are more than happy to offer help and advice to anyone who wants to explore a business idea, and we’re keen to discuss and encourage new ideas to make this happen. We’ve carried out community consultation throughout Northmavine, produced a Development Plan based on the results of the consultations, and overseen the setting up of a number of projects based on the priorities identified. We continue to consult folk on issues affecting the area - like housing, enterprise and energy use.
The Northmavine Community Development Company is also here to encourage and support folk to come forward with their own ideas on what they would like to make happen in Northmavine.
