Almara is a friendly 4 star bed and breakfast, situated at Upper Urafirth with panoramic views across the voe to Hillswick and Niddister. Staying here gives easy access to the spectacular cliffs at Hillswick Ness and Eshaness, with Ronas Hill, North Roe and Ollaberry only a short drive away.

Three comfortable bedrooms are available – 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom – both en-suite. 1 single bedroom has private facilities. Each bedroom has a well stocked hospitality tray, a hair drier and is wireless enabled.

A hearty choice of breakfasts, using Shetland’s finest produce whenever possible, is served from 06.30 hrs to 08.30 hrs.

You are assured a warm welcome and personal service with the assurance that Almara is inspected each year and is graded as a 4 Star B&B. It also holds the prestigious Gold Award in Green Tourism, but always, health and safety, food hygiene and fire safety standards within Almara are our first and prime consideration.

At Almara, we offer up to date and helpful advice because of our good local knowledge on what to see and do and where. We are able to suggest which walks might suit your abilities best, because we’ve walked most of them over the years and we try to ensure you are aware of, and take into consideration, the weather forecast for that day.

As a family we’ve always been conscious of the need to protect our environment, particularly when we live so close to such outstanding natural habitats, so we do all we can to minimise our own impact and that of our guests, by encouraging them to bring back any bottles or litter for safe disposal at Almara, ensuring only footprints are left behind whilst they enjoy this superb walking area, observe the abundant wildlife and see some of the beautiful and interesting sights that has made Northmavine with its 120 miles of coast line and Shetland’s highest landmass the most scenic district in Shetland.
